Our Fairy Tale Booklet

This is our booklet with the stories we worked with along the project.
There are seven fairy tales  - one from each participating country - with activities.
You can also find our Joint Fairy Tale at the end of the booklet.
The images are from the performances that took place in each of the hosting schools.

Meeting in Overpelt: Our Joint Fairy Tale

Probably the central event of the meeting in Belgium was the performance of our Joint Fairy Tale.  This story had been written by the seven countries in collaboration.  The characters from the different fairy tales travel from one country to another looking for a solution to their problems.  Finally they meet in Belgium where they will find the answer to their problems in the treasure box.
The soundtrack to the performance was our joint song "The Land of Fairy Tales" performed live by teachers and students.

Legend website wins European Award

The website http://www.serpentmanlleu.cat/ set by students of Institut Antoni Pous i Argila from Manlleu has won the “best content” prize of the Dot Awards. 

The aim of the awards is to reward the students who build attractive and efficient websites.  This edition of the prize received entries from France, Belgium and the Catalan speaking areas.

The five students who built this web page played an active role in the Comenius project meeting in Manlleu last April.  The website - focused on the tale The Serpent of Manlleu - is another product of the work with legends which takes place in the schools involved in the project.

Rapunzel everywhere

Dear everyone!
We spent a wonderful day with Rapunzel few weeks ago. We would like to share some photos with you - we discovered the story and the background including Grimm’s brothers, started the posters, and even weighed our hair. We had lots of fun!  Here is the link to the photos.

Pécs meeting (IV): Activities and visits

Our Hungarian colleagues had prepared a great programme of activities and visits.  There was time to do some cooking, to recreate some Pécs monuments using bottle caps...
We could also visit the Zsolnay centre, the site of the legend (Nagyharsany) and many other places in and around Pécs

Our project: What do we know about each other? Answers for the Questionnaire

These are the answers to the questionnaire our students answered these previous months (Data collected from 133 students from 5 different countries)

1.  Three questions with yes/no answer:

• Have you ever met a person from the countries involved in the project?
• Have you ever visited one of the countries involved in the project?
• Have you ever talked to a person from these countries?

The chart shows that about 2/3rds of our students had had some contact with some of the other countries involved in the project (you may click on the chart to make it bigger).

2.  Which of these countries have you visited?  /  have you met or talked to someone from?

Austria and Germany are the countries which have been most visited by our students:  43 people had been to Germany or had met a German person.  33 people had been to Austria or had met someone for that country.  We guess that may be because several countries participating in the project are geographically close to these two countries.

3.  Which language did you use to communicate?
We can see that most people (75) used English as a communication language and a significant number (17) used German too.  The use of other languages for international communication was very small.

4. Meals that are typical from these countries

In the chart we can see the best known food from the countries involved in the project.  We can see that there is food from almost all the countries (the Czech Republic is our hidden gem).

From the data we collected our hearty European meal would consist of:

• Starter:  A Hungarian goulash soup or some Spanish paella.
• Main course:  German sausages or Turkish kebab or some Spanish tortilla
• Dessert:  Austrian cakes (Sachertorte, Apfelstrudel...) or Belgian Chocolates

There would be a Czech surprise somewhere there... 

Now it's time to get to know one another... and enjoy the differences!!!
